\nAn international symposium on art was held from 9 to 12 June
\n mental health in Chicoutimi (Quebec), a village next to the
\nSaguenay Fjord, in a national park. The organization has been in charge of
\n ENAM, the national school of puppet learning
\ndirected by Richard Bouchard (see school website here: www.enamsaguenay.ca<\/a>)..
\n Several professionals have been invited to this heavenly place
\nmental health organizations to exchange good practices and
\nreflect on the use of the puppet as a resource. We have been.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/span>This year's theme was the role of art and education applied to the
\nmental health. The events took place at the ENAM headquarters, in the hotel
\nParasol, on the ship Marjolaine, and at the University of Quebec a
\nChicoutimi.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe opening lecture given by was held on Thursday, June 9th
\nLuc Cossette, psychiatrist from Quebec. He told us about the look
\nbio-psycho-social of the different psychopathologies of mental health i
\nhe showed us how to deal with the disease thanks to our own resources.
\nHe also taught us the different ways to get the patient involved
\nits treatment.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n  <\/span><\/div>\n
\nOn Friday the 8th, we had Phillippe Huguelet, a psychiatrist from
\nSwitzerland told us how to organize the care of suffering patients
\nsevere mental disorders. According to him, getting well involves making sense of
\n life and materializes in a sense of effectiveness going through a
\nsatisfactory interaction between body and mind.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThen you could choose between Rosario Alarc\u00f3n's lecture,
\nAndalusian art therapist based in France, who tells us the
\ndiscovery of eight stages of creation with puppet workshops they did
\n discovering the person\u2019s own most intimate story and helping to heal
\n mental problems, or the lecture by Denise Timsit, a psychoanalyst
\n Frenchwoman with Val\u00e9rie Gentile, a puppeteer, who talked about theirs
\nexperiences where the puppet acted as a mediator and helped the
\nconstruction and the affirmation of the self.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nThen Aglika Ivantcheva, who does puppet therapy in
\nCanada offered an interactive workshop showing us how to use it
\n puppetry and psychodrama to solve problems, externalizing the
\nconflict, naming him and seeing him before us.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nSylvie Gagnon and \u00c9l\u00e9onore Vidal, Quebec art therapists, leave us
\nshow the work they do at ENAM, where artistic production helps in
\nthe healing processes.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nAnd finally, in the evening we were able to enjoy the University of
\nChicoutimi from the magical show MOBILUS, inspired by the work of Alexander
\nCalder, from the Addaura Teatre Visual company, of which I am the artistic director and producer.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nWe got off to a good start on Saturday. The first speaker was
\n Johanne Hamel, psychologist, art therapist and professor at the University
\nof Quebec. He told us that current research in neuroscience
\nshow that working with implicit processes (right brain) is a
\nof the Essential Contributions of Creative Arts Therapists in
\n the development of effective psychotherapeutic methods.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nThen we could choose again. On the one hand, Jean St-Onge de
\nthe Innu company Ma\u00efkan de Quebec, told us that its
\nTshakapesh's theatrical production is a stage transposition project
\nof a mythical innu tale adapted to the contemporary context of the natives i
\nthat the approach to social art opens up the possibility of transmitting the
\nInnu language and its values favoring one's own identity, one way
\n to prevent drug abuse and suicide as it currently stands
\nsuffering his people.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\nOn the other hand, the veteran Mariano Dolci, Italian puppeteer, goes to us
\nexplain your experiences gained over the years using the
\npuppet in entertainment, education and care activities and
\nmediation. As a curiosity, to say that Mariano managed to become a puppeteer
\n municipal in Reggio Emilia. He is now retired but the position continues and
\n it is occupied by another person.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nIn the afternoon I gave a lecture, staging a short story and
\n a black light construction workshop on the topic: 'Puppets,
\nan art for managing grief '. It was an interactive experience where, in
\nAt the end, people in the audience improvised different situations
\nlosses with the puppets they had built.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nMeanwhile, Richard Bouchard and Marcelle Dub\u00e9, professor of the
\nUniversity of Quebec, explained and defined the methods of the ENAM of
\nconcrete and practical way.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nSaturday was a day to ride on the Marjolaine boat while there were two more lectures.<\/span> <\/span>The first was given by Karim Dakroub, a professor at the University of Lebanon.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nIt made us think about what the role of the puppet might be
\nthe armed conflicts and during the great displacements of the people
\nrefugees. He told us about his own experiences as in these
\ncases the puppet facilitates the symbolic reconstruction of oneself.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\nThe second starred the French philosopher Phillippe
\nChoulet. He told us about self-healing through a space
\nof art. Besides, this great thinker made our coffee liven up every day. One
\nday he told us about the puppet as a transitional art and another about how
\n the devil can receive instructions from a puppet.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAt the end of each day, a round table was scheduled with
\nall the speakers and participants where they could have their say on the
\nproposed topic. On Friday it was \u201cMental health and services that
\nthey are offered \u201d. And on Saturday the papers were debated
\ncomplementary to art in mental health and education '.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nThese have been intense days, full of emotions, of wisdom, of
\nreunions and new knowledge. From here I want to congratulate
\nthe organization by the program, by the reception and by his
\nprofessionalism.<\/span><\/div>\n
