M. Teresa Abellan Pérez. Special education teacher and psychopedagogue

Previous experience with puppets
  • He used Mr. Cordills with a 4th grade student, Santi, with a significant language and speech disorder.
  • From time to time we did a performance in the ordinary class to give meaning to the work done.
  • The day to day task us
he said that it was necessary to introduce some changes because he was already doing a course that he
    Mr. Cordills was with us.
  • Santi and his mother created a puppet at home that would keep Mr. mountain ranges
And, without it being a coincidence.

It comes to me and I join Teia's proposal.

I complement the experience with new technology work where meaningful learning was the main goal.

Need…
  • Rethink what changes we would introduce, the why of the changes and how to introduce them.
  • Ask the management team for permission.
  • Talk to Santi.
  • Talk to the course tutor.
  • Schedule…
Objectives of the teacher
  • Work on the oral expression and vocabulary of one of the students.
  • Work on the relationship and behavior difficulties of the other student.
Let's get to work! What can we do with puppets?
  • Students begin to
propose ideas that we write down on a piece of paper. Jokes, tell one
history... We want to do some representation for the children of ours
class We want to make them laugh!
  • We decide to order too
opinion to the two puppeteers we know and via e-mail they contribute ideas
    before starting our project.
Little by little the project becomes a reality
  • The other puppets are created; the Asuqui and the Courail Monster.
  • The students are very excited and pass it on to the rest of the people in the centre.
  • They meet and start working outside the center.
  • Parents begin to monitor the anxiety.
A funny movie!
  • Characters: Mr. Cordills and Asuqui which are puppets built by ourselves.
  • The performance will be filmed and passed on to the rest of the class later.
  • The previous work will be done
from the special education classroom and will be carried out by two students from
    4th grade with different disorders.
  • They attend the classroom individually, but on this occasion they will work together, because they are also very good friends.
Cognitive, emotional, attitudinal and physical characteristics of learners.
  • We start from an excellent degree of motivation. Make a movie!
  • The two students will be the
center of attention in your class. They will be the protagonists who
they will try to make their classmates laugh and distract with one
    story made up by them.
  • At the same time, his world of imagination, not always well understood, will be normalized.
Meaningful learning
  • It starts with knowledge
prerequisites and level and abilities of each student to build and expand
    knowledge in a constructive way.
  • An activity with meaning and significance for the students because they proposed and created it themselves.
  • It starts from the motivation on the part of the learners.
  • Plans and works through sharing and learning together; students, teachers, classmates from other classes.
  • It starts from a contextualised, globalized and inclusive task.
  • It will allow both students to realize their own meaningful learning process
Therapeutic activity
  • It makes it possible to deal with topics that concern the students.
  • The representations a
through the puppets they live them as if it had nothing to do with them. fan
    a transference, in psychoanalytic terms.
  • Performances in front of peers help to integrate them into the group by normalizing an activity and the implicit concepts.
  • They ensure confidence in their abilities and improve self-esteem.
  • This motivation
favors a collaborative and participatory attitude towards development
of work At a cognitive level, it will be based on previous knowledge in
the use of technological means and the own level of oral expression i
    creative

Why do I like making puppets go?

I like
being with the puppets because they make people laugh and also because when
you put your hand inside the doll and it warms you up. It wiggles the fingers and when
you are with the puppet it looks like the puppet is talking but who is talking
It is me.

What did you like most about making puppets?

Being able to work with Toni, who is my best friend, and Àngels, who is a puppeteer from the village.

Has it helped me learn to speak better?

Yes, it has helped me because in 3rd grade I still didn't know much vocabulary. Now I think the words come out better.

Puppets help me feel good?

Yes because it's not like school where you do a lot of work. I have a hard time doing schoolwork, but puppets don't.

Opinions of the teacher of EE
  • The work carried out with Teia has been really profitable for different reasons
    • Of one
side, we have done really therapeutic work with two students from
the special education classroom. Two friends who never have the chance to
      work together
    • On the other hand, global work has been done where ICT has been the means to carry out the initially planned work.
    • The
priority objectives when planning the work were that of
the expansion of the vocabulary and the improvement of the structuring of the
sentences and oral expression, especially of one of the students. The
personal satisfaction and the ability to enjoy within the school premises with a
non-academic task has been the work objective for the other student.
    • leaving
of constructivist theories and meaningful learning, both
students were able to start from a problem, a topic they wanted to work on
to be able to plan and decide how they wanted to organize their own
      learning process
    • Ha
It was truly a rewarding experience. The puppets have
turned into a rewarding and motivating medium that has allowed,
together with ICT and the application of constructivist theories,
to do effective work at a therapeutic level. The two students have
to experience what it means to be able to simply be them and show them
colleagues what is the work you have done. His self-esteem has
modified Both students are happier and more interested
      to finish academic work well.
    • The
puppets have helped two students to feel emotive and emotional
self-confident and at the same time normalize diversity. Santi and
Toni, two students who have done a beautiful task and made their students laugh
      colleagues, your goal
